What it does
- Captures a Google AI Mode / AI Overview answer — or a ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity or Copilot conversation.
- Uses the Gemini API (your own free key) to write a title, a bullet-point synthesis, and a tidy transcript — stripping buttons, follow-up chips, disclaimers and filler.
- Saves it as
YYMMDD-title.mdinto a subfolder of your Downloads — no folder permission ever asked. - Runs in the background: start it, close the popup, come back to a finished summary — or turn on auto-save and never look back.
- Optional: an extra subfolder per Chrome tab group, and an Archive button.
Private by design
Your API key and settings never leave your browser. The only network request is the summarization call to Google, made with your key. No analytics, no servers, no tracking. Full privacy policy →
Install
Once it's on the Chrome Web Store (coming soon): click Add to Chrome on the listing — it installs in one click, no developer mode, and updates automatically.
Meanwhile, or to run the latest source, load it unpacked:
- Download or clone the repository.
- Open
chrome://extensionsand turn on Developer mode. - Load unpacked → pick the
gemfetchfolder.
Then, either way — open the extension's options: paste a free Google AI Studio API key, click Refresh to pick a model, and set the save-folder name. Pin the icon; on any Google search with AI Mode / AI Overview, click it.
Notes
- The free Gemini tier is rate-limited per day. Heavy users can enable billing on their own key (a consumer "Gemini" subscription does not raise API limits).
- Works whole-conversation on the major assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Grok, Poe…) and grabs
<main>anywhere else. Chat sites change markup often — if capture looks messy, select the part you want and re-run.
Pairs well with
